Solanki Jewellers has stood on Jewellery Street, off New Busstand Road, for more than thirty-five years. Dinesh Solanki keeps the counter himself. Most people who walk in have been in before, or their mother has.
Nothing here is sold in a hurry. You look, you try it on, you hold it against the light. The weight is read out to you, the rate is today's, and the making is told to you before anything is wrapped.
If you are buying for a wedding, come early. The set takes time to get right, and so does the person wearing it.

Old gold is weighed and valued in front of you, and set against whatever you are taking home. Nothing goes behind a curtain.
Repair & polish
A snapped chain, a loose stone, a bangle gone dull. Bring it in and ask — small work is usually back with you the same week.

Get down at the new bus stand in Malur and walk into Jewellery Street. If you are coming a long way, send a message first — the pieces you want to see will be out on the counter when you arrive.
